Hello Jared, thank you for the information. Perhaps Perfectdisk too is a good solution for home use. However, in my regional division, our experience with Diskeeper Enterprise Server has been extremely satisfactory; so we see no requirement to change vendors. Prior to licensing, our SysAdmins evaluated solutions from multiple vendors and finally chose Diskeeper. They seem to be pleased with it's performance and the automatic defragmentation features. They are more knowledgeable, and call the shots as far as these things are concerned, I am merely an apprentice :)

I posted the above suggestion because iCalvyn was looking for a commercial solution, and I am of the opinion that good technical support (non-existent with freeware defraggers as far as commercial usage is concerned) is an essential part of the equation in a corporate IT environment.

Regards,
Christopher

Starliner, I tend to find Raxco's PerfectDisk to be quite a bit better at defragmenting than Diskeeper. Whenever I used Diskeeper it always seemed to slow down my computer to a crawl. I bought a copy of PerfectDisk and I'm very happy with it. My dad had actually bought a copy of Diskeeper a while ago and has since switched over to PerfectDisk.

For commercial and enterprise servers, better use a tested and proven tool like Diskeeper Server. It is not free, but it is reliable, performance is better and it comes with options such as automatic defragmentation which is said to be the best among defragmenters out there. Most importantly, in a commercial environment, it is important to have good tech support.

I'd recommend that you check out the commercial users section of the www.diskeeper.com website for more information.
